Day 1 Welcome in Laos
Thai/Lao border Houay Xai - Pakbeng
Pick
up from Houay Xai (on border) and scenic river journey on the majestic Mekong in
one of the traditional slow boats. You will pass stunning landscapes and experience
the unique life on the river banks of the Mekong. The first evening arrival in Pakbeng
- Overnight in Hotel in Pakbeng
Day 2 Pakbeng to Luang Prabang on the MekongYou
continue your tour on the mekong on a traditional slow boat. A stop at the holy
Pak Ou Cave is included as well as a village visit along the way. In the afternoon
arrival on to UNESCO world heritage town of Luang Prabang. Pick up service and overnight
in Luang Prabang Hotel.
Day 3 Luang Prabang - active sightseeing by mountain bike
After
sitting in a boat for 2 days the right way to explore this wonderful place is by
bike. Full day sightseeing in and around Luang Prabang to see temples, monasteries,
local markets and other highlights such as the Wat Xieng Thong, the famous viewpoint
on top of the Phousi mountain. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 4 Luang Prabang - waterfalls, villages and a fantastic Eco-Lodge
A
day around town with some great nature highlights. Morning visit to Kuang Si waterfall
and villages along the way. After lunch we start (optional by bike) to our
Jungle Resort 15 km out of town. If available we stay in the wonderful Lao Spirit
Resort right on the banks of the Nam Khan river...enjoy the nature of Laos!
Day
5 Luang Prabang - Eco Elephant Lodge, Elephant tour, Trekking or Kayaking
Wake
up in a beautiful nature setting and take the chance to see Elephants getting washed
in the river. During the day you have the choice of 4 programs. Go on a full
day trek (medium or hard), ride the Elephants or combine your choice with
an afternoon kayaking. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 6 Luang Prabang - Vang Vieng overland
Transfer from
Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng. Amazing mountain sceneries, beautiful landscapes and
village visits along the way. Afternoon walk in the great carst mountain scenery.
Overnight in Vang Vieng near the river.
Day 7 Vang Vieng - Vientiane overland tour
Sightseeing in Vang
Vieng (incl. Tham Chang and Tham Xang Caves) - By vehicle from Vang Vieng to Vientiane
- Overnight in Vientiane.
Day 8 Vientiane - the sleepy capital of Laos Today
we take the time to discover the most important highlights in the capital town of
Laos. National monuments, the famous Pha Tat Luang, Ho Pha Keo and other monasteries
and sights. Full day sightseeing in Vientiane. Overnight in Vientiane.
Day 9 Vientiane - Pakse - Tad Lo - Waterfall - to South
Laos
Transfer - Flight from Vientiane to Pakse - By vehicle from Pakse
to the Tad Lo where an overnight stop near the waterfalls is arranged. - Overnight
in Tad Lo
Day 10 Tad Lo - Pakse - Khong Island (the four thousand islands)
In
the morning we go out to explore some villages and sights around Tad Lo.
By
vehicle from Tad Lo to Pakse further on via Wat Phu Temple to Khong Island. Overnight
at Khong Island.
Day 11 Khong Island - Khon Island
By boat on the wide Mekong
from Khong Island to Khon Island. Here we can learn about history and the bizarre
landscape. Ban Khon village and the remote Khmer temple Wat Khon Tai are on our
program today. The majestic Li Phi waterfalls are visited on our tour as well as
the simple Lao life along the way on the islands. Overnight at Khon Island
Day 12 Khon Island - Pakse
A wonderful pleasure
trip to the massive Khon Phapheng Waterfalls, the biggest falls in south-east-asia.
By vehicle from Khon Island close to Pakse and to the
new natural King Fisher Lodge. A great and quiet evening in the middle of Lao nature.
Overnight in Bungalow Lodge.
Day 13 Pakse and departure from Laos
Transfer to Pakse depending
on time of flight. Transfer to airport or to the Thai border.
