TOURCODE 66276 (MTO-5-SLP) Description
Stunning mountain views, hot springs, ancient cave temples- this motorcycling trip is jam-packed with the top highlights of the area. You'll hop on your motorbike and set out to visit the Pak Ou cave temples, before following the winding roads up to Nong Khiaw, indulging in the mountain vistas along the way. The next day you'll visit a protected forest area which serves as the last remaining home of the Indochina Tiger in mainland Southeast Asia. Spend your downtime wandering through villages, eating delicious home-style Lao meals and karaoking with the locals. You'll also get the opportunity to relax in the tranquil hotsprings of Vieng Thong and visit the famed Plain of Jars before making your way back to Luang Prabang.

Day 01 Luang Prabang - Nong Khiaw
After departing from Luang Prabang, we will head north along Route 13 toward the Pak Ou caves, visiting this important site for Buddhism. We will then continue riding along Route 13 with brilliant views of the countryside toward Pakmong. After passing Pakmong, we’ll switch to the winding 1C road toward Nong Khiaw. Upon arriving in Nong Khiaw, we will check into our guesthouse and relax for the evening.
Day 02 Nong Khiaw - Vieng Thong
After enjoying breakfast, we will get back on the scooter and continue on the 1C toward Vieng Thong. This route is has some sharp curves with stunning views of the mountainous landscape. This area is home to the Nam Et-Phou Louey national protected area, the last remaining home of the Indochina Tiger in mainland Southeast Asia. Upon arriving in Vieng Thong (Muang Hiem), we will relax at the hot springs nearby and possibly sing karaoke with the locals.
Day 03 Vieng Thong - Phonsavan
Today is one of the longest days out on the scooter, but time will certainly fly by. The asphalt road is smooth and the views are impressive once again. We will have lunch in one of the many small villages that are perched along the edge of the mountain before continuing onward to Phonsavan. Upon arriving in Phonsavan, we will check into our guesthouse before riding out to see the Plain of Jars.
Day 04 Phonsavan - Phoukhone
Today we will begin riding out on Route 7. Since the road is not very busy, we can enjoy the twists and turns that will soon bring us to Phoukhone. Upon arriving in Phoukhone, we will check into our guesthouse and explore this small, tranquil town.
Day 05 Phoukhone- Luang Prabang
Today is an early start for the final stretch of the tour. We will switch back to Route 13 up north toward a stunning vantage point overlooking of mountain range below. We will stop here and enjoy the view before getting back on the bike to Luang Prabang. This road has more bends and turns than any other day so far, so it will not disappoint! When we arriving in Luang Prabang, we’ll park our bikes and enjoy a refreshing drink.
