You will learn about the importance of the ubiquitous bamboo plant within Lao culture. Experience bamboo hunting, bamboo weaving, an interactive cooking class and have the change to play the Khaen.

DAY 01 Enjoy a fun half-day trying your hand at local activities
We will take you a rustic pavilion modeled on a traditional Lao house, perched in a picturesque setting next to rice fields. You will listen to an entertaining introduction to the importance of bamboo to Lao culture and to the use of bamboo in a diverse range of household items found in rural Lao dwellings. Try your skills at crossbow shooting and walking on bamboo stilts! Give pounding sticky rice a go with a traditional Pestle & Mortar. You’ll weave a souvenir bamboo mat and enjoy a fun, interactive cooking class, using the bamboo plant as the key ingredient. After enjoying your lunch listen to the Hmong Khen “bamboo instrument” performance and try playing it yourself before attempting the Kamu bamboo dancing “Skipping poles”
