Here’s a chance to learn the traditions and practices of Lao mahout culture, as you meet, interact with, ride and bathe your own Asian elephant in a jungle landscape just outside Luang Prabang. This is a deluxe full-day elephant experience set in the beautiful landscape of the Nam Khan River valley surrounding with stunning mountains, jungle, and the Nam Khan River.

Day 01 Living Like a Mahout: Elephant riding and bathing full-day experience and waterfall
We’ll pick you up between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. at your hotel and drive you to the Elephant Village Camp, where the camp manager will provide a short briefing about elephants before you go for a 3km ride (2 riders per elephant). Afterward, you’ll start your basic mahout training on how to control an elephant by yourself. For lunch, you’ll dine at our Elephant Camp restaurant; it’s a buffet lunch served with coffee / tea and drinking water (vegetarian options available).
After lunch, you can bathe your elephant in the Nam Khan River. It’s an exhilarating experience, followed by a boat trip to the Tad Sae Waterfall (seasonal)* , where you can relax with a swim in the cool water. Then we’ll give you a ride back to your Hotel or GH in Luang Prabang. You’ll arrive between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.
